Trinity Term 2025

This week I had a lot of light meetings. I stayed until 9:33 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and we still didn’t finish it. We bought 4 new LEDs, 1 Source Four, 3 Fresnels, 1 LED strip, and 8 LED strobes that we bought for Pinocchio. That is a lot of things, and we spent Wednesday night mounting and drilling holes for the LEDs, but then we found that the LEDs were not working. Thus, on Thursday night, we connected the cable and found out that we needed to twist the power cable 90 degrees in order for the electricity to go up. Then we found out that there was still one LED that was partially broken, and the red light would always be on. So we made a plan for Friday to buy some power extension cords, and we managed to come back home at 9:11 PM. On Friday, we powered up all the LEDs, only to find out another LED could only do red and green, so we focused all the LEDs and then discussed with Mrs. Belk to figure out a solution for all of these. So we probably also have a lot next week.

This week is also Trinity Term! I still remember last year’s Trinity Term on Feb 8, 2024. And this is the advantage of keeping a journal because I would really FORGET last year’s Trinity Term without my journal. But anyway, this year’s topic is South and Latin America, excluding Mexico.

My project group is Hidden Cities, and we basically dive into Maya culture and their architecture, writing, and other customs.

A 3D model of a Maya pyramid:

They have their codices to write down their history, mathematics, and calendar using their own language. Here is a blog deciphering it. It is complicated because all of these below can represent b’alam:

And for their math, they use a base-20 system, like this:

And here is a much more academic article discussing their math from a professional point of view.

I also went to a lot of project groups, and interestingly, I remembered a lot of student project groups (maybe it’s just that I am not used to some Spanish accents, even if I am learning Spanish right now).

I went to BTA Green’s Amazon Fire, and it is memorable because of how much of the forest was burnt and how big an impact that is. I went to Project Freedom and listened to their seminar about organ trafficking, and that was also really memorable. Mrs. Hara’s husband introduced his country, Bolivia, and he brought some traditional food and drinks. I also listened to seminars about Peru, Ecuador, etc. There were also other kinds of seminars besides the country introductions. For instance, I also went to The Missionary in Peru, and we also talked about this period of history in Europe as well.
